yeah, i saw that junk on comcast sports last night..they did an entire segment on it. basically sunglasses without having to wear sunglasses. soccer players wear them as do tennis players. now baseball players are trying them out. i dont know how i feel about it. i dont think it is cheating because you can wear sunglasses and do other things to help shade the sun....they def. help a batter though, especially when shadows are involved...conversly, they also help the pitcher see the signs from the catcher when the plate is in the shadow and the mound is in the sun. having said that, i dont think i like it. it seems like every year more and more things are being done to improve the players ability by technology instead of the player improving by hard work or practice. oh, you dont like the sun, well just wear this and you will have an advantage....it goes along with society....ways to lose weight while sitting on the couch...ways to work your abs while eating, etc. golf players have gotten strong, yes, thanks to tiger, but they still would not be hitting the ball as far as they are without a new club coming out every few months. technology advancements occur so fast that pretty soon in some cases the way games are played will be nothing like it was 50 years ago. golf courses are obsolete now because of technology, which is sad. the sun should not be obsolete in a great afternoon sporting event because of a contact lens. i am rambling now.
The sun has always been a factor in outdoor sports, and i think it should continue to be. that is just part of the game that adds excitment sometimes, when a player cant locate the pop fly. now a contact lens is taking the factor of the sun away. Then again, technology is amazing, and you cant just stop creating stuff, so this is a tough issue. in the end, i dont see how they would disallow it. cool idea, but i am not for it.
